All about the San Antonio Area Code
The city of San Antonio has a unique history that has gifted it with a diverse population. San Anotonio was once inhabited by indigenous peoples, including the Payaya Indians. In 1691, Spanish explorers and missionaries established the Mission San Antonio de Padua, which would later become the famous Alamo. San Antonio then changed hands a number of times. First to Mexico when it won its independence from Spain. Later, Texas fought for independence, and the Alamo played a big role in that fight. Finally, the US annexed the state of Texas in 1845. The city’s multicultural heritage, with influences from Spanish, Mexican, and Anglo-American settlers, has shaped the culture of San Antonio as it has grown.
